Taking Care of Business: Yours, Mine and Ours
Part 7 - Difficult Conversations

Jesus once said, “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2.49). There is probably no better summation of the life of Christ or our own than that simple phrase. We have been placed on this planet to do the Father’s business in every arena of life - not just the church, but family, neighborhood and marketplace. How has God equipped you and prepared you for your unique contribution to the greater things He is doing? In this new series, we will discover God’s will and God’s way of accomplishing what He wants done in the world. Join us this weekend for the next installment in our series, Taking Care of Business – Difficult Conversations.

Happy Easter...now what?

We celebrate Easter in big ways, but there's more to it than a one-day celebration. Jesus gives the church specific marching orders after his resurrection. Being more than a fan requires us to step up to the marching orders Jesus delivers. Great things happen when we recognize His calling on our lives!

Pastor Keith Stewart - Easter Message:
More Than A Fan

It’s super easy to jump on the “Jesus bandwagon” — to go to church and participate in events, to say the right things around the right people, to act the part when others are watching, but when life gets hard or popular opinion turns against us, do we still stick with Jesus? Easter was the catalyst for taking a ragtag group of men and women full of fear and uncertain commitment and transforming them into true fully devoted followers. Easter turned fans into followers and that miracle is still reoccurring today. Come this Easter and find your miracle!

Guest Speaker, Patrick McLaughlin:
Because of the Cross, I Am...

So why does a public execution 2,000 years ago matter? Why do two wooden beams tied together symbolize love? The cross that held Jesus on it changes everything. It changes justice. It changes mercy. It changes love. It changes you. Let’s take a new look at an old symbol. Where Jesus found pain, we find love. Where so many found Death, we find Life. Let's learn more about how the cross and crucifixion of Jesus provides the ultimate identity for us.

Associate Pastor Lee Jarrell: Easy and Light

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus promised that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. Is that your normal daily experience?  Or are you feeling heavy laden and burdened by your responsibilities? This weekend, learn about the secrets of finding the rest promised by Christ, and the unforced rhythms of grace. Experience the joy of living the Christian life as it is meant to be,

Heidi Le: Confessions of the Broken - A Codependent Rock Chick’s Journey from Hopelessness to Healing

This special service includes music from Heidi's new album as well as a message about the hope of healing that is always available to us. No one is too far-gone into the depths of depression, addiction, or despair to be scooped up by the loving hand of God. We only need the willingness to say “Yes” to Him. This message truly is the "Confessions of the Broken." Enjoy this unique story-teller style hour of music, video, and message of a journey from brokenness and healing.

Pastor Keith Stewart: I'm OK, I'm Broken

In Japan, objects that are broken are often mended using gold. The flaw is seen as a unique part of the objects history, which only adds to its beauty. In the story of our lives, brokenness goes with the territory. But God mends the scars on our soul, transforming them into objects of beauty. Join us in this new series as we discover how!

The Gifts of Christmas

A wise man once said, “A Christmas gift represents somebody’s theory of who you are.” I think that’s true. Every gift I’ve ever received is a kind of mini-revelation of what that person thinks of me – each gift shows me something about the giver’s idea of who I am or who they want me to be. It can be a wonderful thing or quite startling. So what separates a good gift from a bad gift? I think we can all agree, great gifts come from those who know and understand us best. This message will explore how a group of outsiders really got Who Jesus was even when His own people did not. Come join us as we explore the gifts of the Magi.

Guest Speaker, Bryan Sands: Christmas Blues

Holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and celebration, but for some people they are anything but. One survey found that 45% of Americans dread the Christmas season. No time of the year more routinely sets us up for great expectations than Christmas and at no time of the year are those expectations dashed more frequently. Come join us as we learn to move beyond holiday survival by rediscovering the hope and healing in Christmas!

Stranger Things: The Mystery of the Supernatural World

In Scripture, a mystery is a truth which can’t be discovered by normal means. It’s a truth which God must tell us if we are to know it at all. Simply put, there is a limit to human wisdom. Now don’t get me wrong, our minds are capable of discovering the amazing complexities of the universe that have led to breakthroughs in physics, medicine, astronomy and the earth sciences. But we will never fully explain human life in those terms. There is more to know and only God can tell us. In this series, we’ll discover what God has revealed to us about the supernatural world and its impact on our daily life.

Let Me Answer the Question You’re Really Asking

Jesus was a master communicator. Whether He was dealing with an honest inquiry or a hostile accusation, Christ knew how to slice through the noise and confusion to clarify what was really at stake. He never failed to answer the question that was really being asked in order to lay bare the missing reality. We learn so much about the heart of God in Christ’ responses - how He deals with us in our obstinance and ignorance - but also so much about the kind of people He longs for us to be. Come find your place with us at the feet of Jesus while we listen to the truth that sets us free.

Made to Make a Difference

The Bible is filled to bursting with the most astounding, incredible and powerful demonstrations of God's involvement in this world. But perhaps the most amazing miracle that the Bible reveals is not that God created everything in the cosmos or that God He delivered His people from Egyptian bondage or that He parted the Red Sea. Maybe even more remarkable than all these things is the practically unbelievable reality that He wants to use you and me in accomplishing what He wants done in the world. Simply put, you were made to make a difference. In this three-part series, we’ll show you how.

Scandalous Grace

A lot of us give ourselves "high marks" in the grace department because we are extremely gracious to friends when they mess up. We’re quick to tell them that God's love never changes, it’s without condition and life changing. But these are the people we care about. In many ways, giving grace to them comes easily. But the true test of grace is not with the easy to love but with the hard to love. The real test of grace comes with those who’ve hurt us, disappointed us, betrayed us - those we really don't like. What will you do when you come face-to-face with scandalous grace?

KILLJOYS: The Seven Deadly Sins

A few hundred years after Christ was born, a group of believers wanted to follow God with all their heart. They searched for the things they thought would enhance their walk with God. But they also wanted to know the things that would sabotage their growth. In order to be specific, they made a list of what they considered to be the deadly enemy. The sins they put on this list were not deadly because they were the worst kinds of sins a person could commit but because out of these sins all others originate. The seven deadlies promise us much - happiness, contentment, the good life - but leave us joyless. Join us in the coming weeks as we discover God’s path to true joy!

Let Go

The unresolved past does not go away. It goes underground. It sits in the background of our thoughts, feelings and actions waiting to pounce at the opportune moment. It is the spoiler of dreams and the ruiner of relationships. Without a doubt, the primary expressions of an unresolved past are regrets and bitterness. One involves anger directed toward ourselves (regrets) and the other, anger directed toward others (bitterness). God longs to set you free from these burdens that are far too heavy to bear.

Imperfectly Church

While our story really began when we realized we were wrong, it is far from complete. Because we go where Jesus goes—into the margins of those in need. As a community of diverse and imperfect people, we are on a journey to experience and share the restorative and perfect love of Jesus. God has called us to be agents of hope and healing, to give voice to the most vulnerable, and to champion God's kingdom of love on Earth through our simple acts of service and sacrifice.

We are meant to be a blessing beyond ourselves.

We have a purpose that goes beyond our walls.

We've been given a love beyond this world.

We are imperfect people leaning into the perfect love of Jesus.

We are Imperfectly Church.

Something Worth Living For

Deep within our souls is a desire to live a life of significance. We know we were made for so much more than what we often settle for. The Welch poet David Whyte once said, “I don’t want to have written on my tombstone, when finally people struggle through the weeds, pull back the moss, and read the inscription there: ‘He made his car payments.'” We were made for so much more! This new series from Nehemiah will challenge you and encourage you to live a life full of purpose and meaning.
